At Holistic Living, we sit with you through the messiest parts of your life. We cheer loudly (with full confidentiality) as you begin to feel more confident, more worthy, and find sustainable energy levels. We provide the safe space, tissues, and (sometimes) dog cuddles.
Make “it” happen.
You make it happen for everyone else. Let’s work together and make “it” happen for you.
Therapy sucks. We get it. However, what you are doing isn’t working well or you wouldn’t have landed on this page.
Whether you refer to yourself as “hot mess express” or “Ms. Always has it together”, there is a place for you here. And if it’s not in my office, I I will gladly connect you with someone else!
In this office, show up as you are. Literally, sweatpants and messy buns are the norm. Most people take off their shoes and find their comfy spot.
About Me
As a trauma informed therapist, I believe you are the most important person in your story. We work together to release those feelings that are stuck in your body from childhood trauma and begin to rewire your brain.
I specialize in C-PTSD. The “messy” stuff is where I thrive.
My work experience has been varied, which helps me connect to a variety of people.
I interned with Catholic Charities of TN, Operation Stand Down (TN), Girls on the Run (Columbia, SC). My professional work has included time at various government agencies including Child Welfare (SC) and a community mental health center (ND).
I’m often asked how my clients have ranged from the decade long IV meth user to the nurse/teacher. The common theme being: childhood trauma.
Most of my clients don’t even know where to start with their story, because there has been so much for so long.

Ella and Phoebe are the office dogs!
The girls are present most days. They absolutely love sitting with people and are a wonderful asset to the therapeutic environment. Sometimes they snuggle on the couch, sometimes in their own chair, and other times on the floor.
The most important part of therapy is called the “therapeutic alliance”, essentially are we a good fit? The first step to finding this out is a 15-20 minute consultation call.
Ella and Phoebe are 6 year old Black labs. They are “twins” that provide animal assisted therapy for additional emotional support.
The girls work well with helping clients recognize and resolve the heavy feelings that arise in session.
Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) provides a range of emotional and cognitive benefits.
Please note, if you are allergic accommodations can be made.

Individual Therapy
Whether you sit on my couch or yours, individual therapy provides a dedicated space to solely focus on you. For most, this sounds absolutely terrifying and that’s okay. Each session is unique. Some days we cry, some days we laugh. Some days, we do both. We can talk through past, present, and/or future scenarios. We can recognize patterns and how to adapt. We can be your place to vent and/or to process. We can ask you the hard questions. We can sit in silence and allow the tears to fall. The “therapeutic hour” is typically 45-50 minutes. Most clients begin weekly. However, this is not a requirement. We understand that you’re a busy human plus therapy is all about what’s best for you.

EMDR
EMDR. If you know what those letters mean, you probably have some trauma that you’re looking to process. The nitty gritty of EMDR is that it makes you FEEL your feelings instead of just talking through them. Jennifer notes that this is typically more appropriate for the “I’m fine” person that is constantly on the edge of a mental breakdown. EMDR gets deep into the trauma work to allow healing in a much different aspect than traditional talk therapy. If you want to know more of the science, click here.
Take the next step.
You have probably already done enough research at this point. The next step is a 15-20 minute consultation call. This is a quick overview to make sure that we are a good fit. We review basic demographic info, clinical fit, preferred qualities in a provider, plus the boring (important) logistics like scheduling and payment methods.

The first step is a consultation call. This is typically a 15-20 minute call to make sure we are a good fit. We go over basic background information, preferred qualities, treatment goals, plus other logistics such as time, cost, and telehealth/ in person.
-
“It depends” doesn’t seem like a fair answer. There are so many factors to determine the cost of service: location, insurance, private pay, length of session. We can talk about this during the consult call, so you have the details that are specific to you.
-
Each session is typically 45-50 minutes and is scheduled on the hour, by appointment only. The “typical” pattern goes as follows: consult call, intake, treatment planning, weekly individual sessions. Since most of our clients fall into the “high functioning professional” realm, we have the flexibility to do weekly or biweekly in the beginning and drop down to every 3-4 weeks as needed. Some clients feel resolve within just a few sessions. Other loves a “once a month check in”. Some clients are with us for numerous “rounds” of therapy. The duration of services is based on your individual life factors.
